Using a new(er) version of FreePascal than ships with Lazarus
« on: August 02, 2010, 11:26:18 pm »
Hello,
I am completely new to FreePascal and Lazarus.  I am currently investigating porting some existing Delphi components to Lazarus.  I am curious:  Is it common for the users of Lazarus to build their projects with a newer (or different) version of FreePascal than what ships with the version of Lazarus they are currently using?  (For instance, I'm using Lazarus 0.9.28.2, which ships with FPC 2.2.4.  Is it common for Lazarus users who download version 0.9.28.2 to download FPC 2.4 and build with that version instead of 2.2.4?)

Thanks for any insight you can offer!

If you ask me, yes. Even more, I never use the stable version. I use daily snapshot which is built from previous version.
